چکیده
Abstract Four types of biochars were prepared from rice husk as farm waste, sugarcane bagasse sugar cane juice store residues Leucaena leucocephala tree horticulture waste and chicken manure reduce at 700 ο C, then evaluated a alternative to control Tribolium castaneum , Rhyzopertha dominica Oryzaephlius surinamensis Sitophilus oryzae . The character each type has been defined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) with an Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDX) Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) used identify the elemental composition functional groups distributed on surface. compositions refer biochar exhibited decrease in Carbon concentration increase Oxygen content; there is negative correlation between C O contents. On other hand, only tested that contains Ca, P, Cl. largest number its surface, mortality insects was recorded after 10 days which showed most effective more different elements affected O.surinamensis R. percentages 86.66 73.33. toxicity of acetone to stored-product insects
in laboratory experiments the toxicity of acetone was investigated against four species of stored-product insects. in empty-space trials, estimates of the lethal concentrations of acetone (lc, 72-h exposure) for 50% mortality against adults of the lesser grain borer, rhizopertha dominica (f.), red flour beetle, tribolium castaneum (herbst), rice weevil, si-tophilus oryzae (l.) and eggs of the a...
متن کاملResistance of stored-product insects to phosphine
The objectives of this work were to assess phosphine resistance in insect populations (Tribolium castaneum, Rhyzopertha dominica, Sitophilus zeamais and Oryzaephilus surinamensis) from different regions of Brazil and to verify if the prevailing mechanism of phosphine resistance in these populations involves reduced respiration rates. Sixteen populations of T. castaneum, 15 of R. dominica, 27 of...
متن کاملBiorational approaches to managing stored-product insects.
Stored-product insects can cause postharvest losses, estimated from up to 9% in developed countries to 20% or more in developing countries. There is much interest in alternatives to conventional insecticides for controlling stored-product insects because of insecticide loss due to regulatory action and insect resistance, and because of increasing consumer demand for product that is free of inse...
متن کاملMicrowave radar detection of stored-product insects.
A microwave radar system that senses motion was tested for capability to detect hidden insects of different sizes and activity levels in stored products. In initial studies, movements of individual adults or groups of Lasioderma serricorne (F.), Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.), Attagenus unicolor (Brahm), and Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) were easily detected over distances up to 30 cm in air. Bo...
